Onsite Occupational Health Technician
Kays Medical is seeking a highly organised and trained Occupational Health Technician to join our team.
The On-site Occupational Health Technician plays a vital role in promoting employee health and wellbeing by conducting health assessments and surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, and supporting workplace health programs. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and assisting employees with maintaining good health standards within the workplace.
Key responsibilities:
- Health Surveillance: Conduct regular health screening and surveillance, including lung function testing, audiometry, vision testing, blood pressure checks, and other assessments required for employees.
- Drug & Alcohol Testing: Administer drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Record and report results accurately.
- Health Monitoring: Assist in monitoring employee health and providing guidance on how to improve workplace wellbeing.
- Medical Assessments: Support Occupational Health Advisors and Nurses by conducting basic medical assessments and referring employees as necessary.
- Fitness for Work Assessments: Support with the coordination of fitness-for-work assessments for employees, ensuring their ability to perform their duties.
- First Aid: Provide first-line first aid services to employees when needed and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all tests and screenings, ensuring confidentiality and data protection compliance.
- Health Promotion: Participate in health promotion initiatives such as mental health awareness, wellbeing campaigns, and stress management programs.
- Compliance: Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to and that medical equipment is regularly maintained and calibrated.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in occupational health is desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in occupational health is desirable.
- Certification in Drug & Alcohol Testing (desirable).
- First Aid Certification.
- Experience with health surveillance techniques such as spirometry, audiometry, and vision testing.
- Full UK driving license (for roles requiring travel).
- Previous experience in a healthcare or occupational health setting is preferred although training will be given.
- Strong knowledge or ability to learn and undertake basic medical measurements and health assessments.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Good computer skills for maintaining health records and generating reports.
- Be happy to work unsociable hours as required.
- Full current driving license essential
- Demonstrate a self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
- Be able to work effectively both independently and within a team framework.
- Be able to prioritise own workload and have good time management skills.
- Capable of working flexibly and to strict deadlines
