Kays Medical helps local community at Christmas

Kay’s Medical were approached by St. Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School a few weeks ago looking for help with their fundraising campaign, a Christmas lunch for the local elderly people.
The Event:
St. Ambrose Barlow Primary School planned a Christmas lunch for pensioners in the local community who may suffer from disabilities and those who may be alone and unable to celebrate Christmas. Loneliness can be a big issue amongst the elderly, especially around Christmas, which is why the event was so important.

The Goal:
The school came to Kays medical wanting to raise £100 for their chosen charity, so they were looking to get ten people to attend the event (with a donation of £10 each).

The Outcome:
We were able to send 25 people to the event raising a whopping £250! As well as this, Hayleigh and Jean from the Kays Medical team decided to go down and help out at the event.

On the day:
Hayleigh and Jean couldn’t believe the outcome of the event, with around 150 elderly people from the local community turning up! As you can imagine St. Ambrose Barlow were thrilled at the turn out, meaning we all had a busy day!
All the volunteers worked tirelessly serving the elderly with delicious three-course meals, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.
As well as food, entertainment was provided in the form of a ukulele band, which was something a bit different and a lot of fun. They also had twin girls who attended the primary school sing Christmas songs for the visitors, which definitely got them in the festive spirit!

Special Guests:
The ukulele band and singing students weren’t the only guests of honour. We also had special appearances from ex Everton players Graham Stuart and Ian Snodin who were also looking to help out. Safe to say we were all a little star struck!

All in all, the lunch turned out to be a huge success, so much so they’re hoping to turn it into an annual event. We loved being a part of it and meeting all the wonderful people who attended the lunch and the staff and pupils who helped make it a reality. In fact, we’ve invited the St. Ambrose Barlow Primary School choir to perform some Christmas carols at Kays.
