Kays Medical partner with The University of Bedfordshire

Kays Medical was successfully awarded the contract for the Provision of Occupational Health Services for The University of Bedfordshire, with their services predominantly required for those students undertaking courses relating to healthcare professions. Urgent/rapid implementation was required due to the sudden exit of the incumbent Occupational Health Provider, and we therefore undertook daily/weekly meetings between Kays and the key stakeholders at the University to ensure a smooth and efficient contract take over and provision of services.

The key deliverables of this contract being:

  • Pre-placement Health Screening
  • Immunisation and Blood Test Clinics
  • Case Management
  • Compliance with Government Guidance – especially when considering COVID-19

During the initial stages of the contract, the University was in the midst of its September student intake and already had approximately 1700 applicants who needed health screening assessments before starting placement. Kays’ first priority was to therefore distribute all of the tailored pre-placement healthcare questionnaires to capture all students ahead of their placement start dates and a significant number of these were in relation to students undertaking Exposure Prone procedures (EPPs).

This we completed successfully by Kays using their online portal system and all completed questionnaires were then assessed by their Occupational Health clinicians within the required agreed KPI’s.

During implementation Kays worked closely with the University in order to establish relationships with course leads and other key stakeholders within the University of Bedfordshire’s personnel. This allowed them to gain a full understanding of all teaching timetables and campus locations for all courses. Following this, Kays created fit-for-purpose clinic schedules in order to accommodate vaccination appointments for all applicants ahead of their placement start dates.

Once all dates and sites were agreed upon, Kays continued to work closely with the University of Bedfordshire in order to create an agreed upon process for onboarding students and their healthcare worker clearance, which was shared with the entire Occupational Health Team to ensure a consistent service delivery.
