Stress Awareness Month

Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992. The campaign aims to increase public awareness about what causes stress and highlight ways we can combat its ill effects.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Regaining Connectivity, Certainty and Control’. With the stress the global pandemic has caused this past year, this message will resonate with many of us. People nationwide have had their world turned upside down, whether they’ve had to adapt to working from home, they’ve been furloughed, or they’ve found themselves out of work. It goes without saying that this year has been stressful for many of us.

Even without a pandemic, everyday life has many stressors. But according to a recent study by https://www.stress.org.uk, 65% of adults in the UK have felt more stressed since the COVID-19 restrictions started in March 2020.

As a result, this year Stress Awareness Month is launching ‘The 30-day challenge’. Your challenge is to choose an activity that will boost your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and carry it out every day for 30 days. The activity could be anything from meditating to running and everything in between. The science behind the challenge is that it takes 30 days to turn an action into a habit.
