New Starter Health Assessments

All organisations need to ensure that their new employees are fully fit for all aspects of their roles. Our New Starter Health Assessment service ensures your staff are fit to work.

Our New Starter Health Assessments to suit your occupational health needs.

Here at Kays Medical, we understand the necessity for your employees to be fit for their roles. Our New Starter Health Assessment is designed to clinically and objectively assess your employees, reducing the risk of any potential workplace health issues, including work absence and performance.

An online portal can often be used for roles that require little or no health requirements or have any risks associated with the position. But for roles requiring specific requirements, our face-to-face assessments can help ensure your employees are the right health fit for their role.

We also provide appropriate advice on work adjustments to those employees with specific disabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

New starter health assessments are online or offline questionnaires and examinations that evaluate the health and fitness of new employees for the job they have been offered. This is an essential step in assuring your employees’ health and wellbeing for physically demanding or risk-averse roles.

These assessments are important as they can help identify any health issues or risks that may affect the employee’s ability to perform their role safely and efficiently, as well as recommend any reasonable adjustments or support needed for your workplace.

Usually, you will request a questionnaire or an examination for the new employee through our online portal, including information about the risks and requirements associated with the role. Your new employee will then complete the questionnaire or attend an examination, if relevant, including accurate and updated medical evidence.

We will then review the questionnaire and examination results and issue a certificate or a report that indicates the employee’s fitness for work and any recommendations for adjustments or follow-up.

Your business and your new employee have certain rights and responsibilities in relation to new starter health assessments, such as:

  • Your business has the right to request a new starter health assessment for an employee who has been offered a job, to receive a certificate or a report that confirms the employee’s fitness for work (including any recommendations) and to terminate the employment contract if they are found unfit for work or fail to cooperate with the assessment.
  • Your business has the responsibility to cooperate with the service provider, to consider any reasonable adjustments or alternatives for the employee, to comply with the employment and data protection laws, and to pay any costs associated with the assessment.
  • Your employee has the right to apply for a new starter health assessment if they have been offered a job, to provide relevant and accurate medical evidence, to be informed of the outcome of the assessment and the reasons for the decision, to appeal the decision, and to receive the benefits they are entitled to.
  • Your employee has the responsibility to cooperate with the service provider, to attend any appointments or examinations as required, to inform the service provider of any changes in their health or circumstances, and to declare any income or re-employment that may affect their benefits.
