Talking therapies are now commonly used in organisations to help reduce absenteeism levels.
Here at Kays Medical, we understand that absenteeism isn’t always due to physical illness but that mental health can be a contributing factor. Our talking therapies encourage employees to address personal as well as workplace issues.
Organisations that have implemented employee mental health services have reaped the benefits of higher motivation and morale, better stress management, and a reduced likelihood of legal claims for negligence.
We provide organisations and employees access to Talking (psychological) Therapies that can help individuals overcome emotional difficulties and free themselves from self-destructive ways of feeling, thinking, and behaving.
We offer individual behavioural therapies, relationship therapies, group therapy and clinical supervision for counselling practitioners. We also offer CBT for workplace problems and management training in understanding common emotional problems in the workplace.
Our network of counsellors and psychotherapists are members of, or accredited to, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or they may be registered to practice with the British Psychological Society or have training and experience consistent with the registration or accreditation of these or similar professional bodies and abide by their Code of Ethics, Standards and Practice.
Talking therapies are confidential, meaning that what you say will not be shared with anyone else without your permission unless there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.
Talking therapies are usually delivered in sessions that last between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of therapy and the service. The number of sessions you have will also vary, depending on your needs and goals. Some therapies are short-term, lasting for a few weeks or months, while others are longer-term, lasting for a year or more.
In the first session, you will usually talk to your therapist about your issues, your background, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. Your therapist will explain how they work and what to expect from the sessions. You will also agree on a treatment plan and review your progress regularly.
In the following sessions, you will work with your therapist to explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours and learn new ways of coping with your difficulties. Your therapist will listen to you, support you, and help you find your own solutions. They will not judge you, tell you what to do, or give you advice.
Talking therapies have been shown to be effective for many common mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, stress, and more. Research has found that talking therapies can help people feel better, reduce their symptoms, improve their functioning, and prevent relapse.
However, talking therapies are not a quick fix or a magic cure. They require your active participation, motivation, and commitment. They may also involve facing difficult emotions and challenging negative thoughts, which can be uncomfortable at times.
The effectiveness of talking therapies also depends on the quality of the relationship between you and your therapist and the suitability of the type of therapy for your issues and personality. Therefore, it is important to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and a therapy that suits your needs and preferences.
